From Forests to Faucets: Maine DEP Lake Scorecard
When: Tuesday, May 19 at 5 p.m.
Location: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Bosarge Family Education Center
The new Lake Scorecard combines many types of lake information into one color-coded graphic based on current conditions or trends in the lake's health. Lake condition is summarized in four separate areas: Water Quality Trends, Invasive Plants, Shoreland & Habitat, and Lake Vulnerability. Each category color-coded to indicate an overall condition assessment: blue = good, yellow = fair, and red = poor/at risk. Grey indicates there is not enough data for an assessment. All Maine DEP Lake Scorecards are available for viewing on www.LakesOfMaine.org. This presentation will focus on the scorecards for Adams Pond and Knickerbocker Lake.
Jeremy Deeds is an aquatic ecologist with the Lakes Assessment Section of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. He holds an M.S. in aquatic ecology from Kent State University and a Ph.D. in ecology and environmental science from the University of Maine.
